Arborists for Trustees of Reservation at Naumkeag

Western MA

Jim and the arborists at Hilltown Tree & Garden maintain the mature historic trees at multiple properties for the Trustees of Reservation in Western MA. They work in collaboration with the property mangers to maintain the original integrity of the gardens by helping to preserve the history of the landscape. Whether it be: pruning, cabling, proper planting, fertilization, monitoring or treating for disease and pest problems they work to solve complex problems on centuries old trees.

Joseph Choate, a leading 19th-century attorney, hired the architectural firm of McKim, Mead, & White to design the 44-room “cottage,” Naumkeag, which would serve as a summer retreat for three generations of Choates.”Jim in one of the originally planted beech trees enjoying the view.
